We finish the season 3rd although the final points haven't been published by the GU.

We were 4 points behind Peel going into the last game and as we only picked up 3, we can't catch them. Castletown had a game in hand against Ramsey but would need to score 11 points in two games. As one of those games is against Douglas and they lost heavily last time against Ramsey, I think we are safe in 3rd.

In total we lost only 4 games this season, and I've been really pleased with many of the results and the keenness of our players to do well in this competition.

Many thanks also to the team sponsors Technaut IT Consultants who provided us with playing tops, they are very much appreciated.

Many thanks to all involved, including the spectators who turned up in sun, rain and gales to support the team. Lets hope to do even better next year.

Thanks

Martin

15th August - Mount Murray away - we lost 4-3

A close game throughout this match as we managed to get round mostly before the rain.

Wins for Tom and Pye in the singles but a heavy loss for Jason and a close defeat for Chris meant it was even going into the pairs.

Walt and Martin won 3&1 however Terry and Jack lost and the two Rich's Corke and Clarke-Wilson also lost.

8th August - KEB home - we won 6-1

A fine result in 35kph winds made putting tricky especially on 3 and 4.

Big wins for Tom and Jason (6&5) while Chris and Pye both won 3&2. In the pairs, Walt and Martin won 2&1and Rich and Jack dished out a dog license 7&6. Gell and JC lost 2&1 in a close game.

Just one more to go, away to Mount Murray.

1st August - Douglas away - we lost 5.5 - 1.5

This was always going to be a tough match and the mighty Douglas took home advantage and did us over again, thereby killing off any real chance we had of taking the league.

First out was Rob Hester and myself. Rob was on fire, birdying the second and fourth to take us 3 up single handedly. I slotted a 50 footer on 5 to halve the hole. They fought back and we were one up on 17 but they went birdie birdie to level the match.

Chris was on fire against Peter Glover and won by a massive 8&6. A rare spanking for Peter but Chris was 8 under.

Mike and Mark lost 2 down. Walt and Mike lost 2&1 and we lost the rest of the singles, Pye, Terry and Jason all having tough matches where they couldn't get the putts to go in.

Home to the Rock next week followed by away to Mount Murray for the final match. Before tonight we were 3.5 behind Peel, we need a couple of strong results to maintain our position.

25th July - Casltetown home - we won 4.5 - 2.5

Great wins for Chris and Tom put 2 points on the board early on, but an injured Pye lost. Terry and Martin lost 1 down and JC and Gell were pegged to a half.

Another win for Jason and Walt this time paired up with Rich. A great result against Casltetown, especially as we beat them away as well. No idea on the league position, the table hasn't been updated for weeks.

Douglas away next week.

11th July - Ramsey away - we won 6-1

Stunning conditions, weather and course. A full sweep in the singles, Pye, Jason, Tom and Chris all winning. Tom was up against Davey Jones too.

In the pairs, JC and Gell won, Terry and Martin won but Walt and Mike were beaten.

No league table updates so not sure where we are. Prior to last week we were 4th, 1/2 a point behind Castletown but with a game in hand.

7th July - Douglas home - we lost 6-1

This was the re-arranged fixture from May and was very one sided considering we had everyone available to play.

The only win was Chris Kneen with a great 6&5 victory in the singles.

Mike, Jason and Pye all lost. Tom paired with Terry, suffered a drop in form and a loss, Gell and Rob and Walt and Mike also lost.

4th July - Home to PSM - we won 6-1

I can't remember who won on this one as I didn't keep a record. Apologies

27th June - Peel home - We won 5-2

After last week, we dropped to 3rd place, 9.5 points off the leaders Peel and 6 behind 2nd place Douglas. (we have a game in hand against Douglas to reschedule)

Gale force conditions meant for very tricky golf and some very close matches.

First home in the same fixture as before was Chris Kneen winning on the last with a birdie.

Terry and Mike both won. Mike came back from being 4 down after 6 for an excellent win.

Jason lost the remaining singles game 2&1 in a close match.

In the pairs, JC and Mark lost their unbeaten run, losing to a birdie on 14 they waved the big sticks on 15 and regretted it.

Walt and Mike were always up in their game but it was still close.

Rich and Rob were up but were taken down the last. Rob who drove the green handsomely held his nerve to two put for birdie and to halve the hole and secure the win.

Next week we're at home to PSM

20th June - Peel away - We lost 4.5 - 1.5

A tough Peel side took full advantage at home, JC and Mark won and Jason halved

Losses for Mike, Terry and Chris in the singles

Losses for Walt & Rich, Rob and Martin in the pairs. Better luck this time when we play Peel at home.

13th June - MM at home - We won 5.5 - 1.5

Lovely conditions and the course in great condition. This was a close match at the half way point with the scores pretty even.

Chris was up against Daryl Callister who was playing really well. Chris was always behind in this match but kept things pretty close going down 2&1.

Pye was last there and first finished in fine form, he won 4&3

Tom had a good close match and won 3&2

Jason played impressive 12 year old Herman Loubster who plays of 4 (for the moment). Jason won 2&1

In the doubles, Walt and Mike were up for most of their match but were eventually pegged back for a half.

JC and Gell, played steady and won 3&2 as did Terry and Rich

The table now shows us level with Douglas in second place, 5 points behind Peel. Peel have played an extra game and we have to play our postponed fixture against Douglas.

30th May KEB away - We won 5-2

Decent conditions at last but a very tricky course required a lot of course knowledge and a lucky putter so a win here was really special

Wins in the singles for Jason and Pye

Halves for Tom and Chris

Terry and Martin lost but JC and Mark won and so did Walt and Mike.

23rd May - Douglas at home - postponed until after TT

16th May Castletown away - We won 4 - 3

A miserable night of golf was made bearable by the outcome, a win away to Castletown is a win to be treasured. Its testament to how Castletown can deal with the water that we were able to play at all, I'm sure many of the other games couldn't be played.

Mike Rae was available but was narrowly defeated by Castletown's form man Tom Harris.

Pye halved while Tom and Terry both won.

In the pairs, JC and Mike halved while Mark and Jack lost.

Last out on the course was Rich Corke and myself and we won 1 up.

Douglas home next week, hoping for better weather this time!

9th May Ramsey home - We won 4.5 - 2.5

We lost a couple of singles to form Ramsey players and. Pye losing to Davey Jones and Terry losing to Jamie Arneil.

Jason scored a half and Tom Gandy won 1up. In the pairs, another emphatic victory 6&5 for Walt and Mike. Mark and Rob Hester won 6&5 and Rich Corke and Martin won 1 up.

Castletown away next week.

2nd May Port St Mary away - We won 5-2

A solid 5-2 victory away from home with all 4 singles matches going our way.

Tom won 1up, Terry won 4&3, Pye won 3&2 and Jason won (not sure score)

In the pairs, Walt and Mike won 6&4 but Mark and Jack were narrowly beaten 1 down. The young guns Rob Hester and Richard Clarke-Wilson also lost.
